About SomethingTools
Simple tools for small jobs: open a page, do the task, get on with your day.
What we build
SomethingTools is a growing collection of everyday utilities — PDF and image tools, QR codes, calculators, converters and text tools. Each one does a single job, explains how it works, and shows its working where there is a calculation involved.
Why everything runs in your browser
Most file converters upload your document to a server. We think that's unnecessary for most everyday tasks, and it means trusting a stranger with your contracts, payslips or photos. Modern browsers are capable enough to do the work themselves, so our tools do the processing on your device. We don't store your files because we never receive them.
Where a tool needs outside data — today that's only exchange rates — we say so on the tool page and send only what's needed.
How we keep it free
Running tools in the browser keeps our costs low. We plan to support the site with clearly labelled advertising, shown only if you agree to it, that never covers the tools themselves.
